Enlargement of the European Union – Processes and Policies

This course critically investigates how the European Union initiated the European Neighbourhood Policy and how this relates to the procedures and objectives of Enlargement Policy. It focuses on the Eastern Mediterranean, including the relations of Turkey to the EU and Germany and also studies the Western Balkan region and the Caucasus. Students have the opportunity to train their research skills and to work on small projects related to the course’s theoretical and empirical concentration.
