This course welcomes MA students from different national and disciplinary backgrounds. This includes students who train to become teachers and want to deepen their knowledge on the European Union.
The objective of the course is to receive a better understanding of the EU’s current nature, before and after the elections to the European Parliament in June. Considering the various crises that Europe has been confronted with, experts are discussing how the involvement of citizens, via the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE), can foster the creation of a European public space and have a positive impact on the debate about (dis)integration. In this course, students will increase their knowledge on how the CoFoE functioned in practice and its meaning for EU politics by reading and discussing empirical and theoretical reflections of these developments. In addition, the course will train several methods that will help the students to apply the gained knowledge to other topics.
